Census 2010 Demographic Profile for Massachusetts
On May 5th, 2011, the U.S. Census Bureau released the 2010 for Massachusetts. Whereas the Census 2010 Redistricting Data (Public Law 94-171) Summary File released on March 22nd, 2011 provided a first report of 2010 population counts for Massachusetts geographies, as well as some information on race and ethnicity, the Demographic Profile provides more detailed information on the population, including populations by age and gender, subcategories for Asian and Hispanic or Latino populations, household type and relationship information, occupancy and vacancy information by type of housing unit, and group quarters population.

U.S. Census Bureau Re-Releases Sub-County Population Estimates for 2000-2009
On September 9, 2010 the U.S. Census Bureau made corrections to its 2009 MCD (minor civil division) population estimates for the years 2000-2009. In Massachusetts, these new estimates add a maximum of 547 persons and take away a maximum of 284 persons in the 2009 population estimates of cities and towns affected by this re-release. New Census Data Release Dec. 9, 2008
For the past several years the Census Bureau has released data products from the American Community Survey (ACS) in the form of 1-year estimates. These estimates were based on data collected in a single calendar year and describe the average characteristics for that specific year. The Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS) released its first multiyear estimates based on ACS data collected from 2005 through 2007 today. These three-year estimates will be available for geographic areas with a population of 20,000 or more, including the nation, all states and the District of Columbia, all congressional districts, approximately 1,800 counties, and 900 metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, among others.

Summary of August 7, 2008 County Characteristics Estimates
On August 7, 2008, the U.S. Census Bureau released its 2007 County Characteristics Estimates for Massachusetts, Puerto Rico and the United States. These estimates break down the 2007 estimated county populations by age, gender, race, and Hispanic origin. The Population Estimates Project of the UMass Donahue Institute summarizes the findings and highlights for Massachusetts counties in the following document and appendices.

The U.S. Census Bureau released 2007 MCD-level population estimates for Massachusetts and the U.S. on July 10, 2008. The attached document provides a summary of these estimates while appendices include tables and maps showing the details of this information.
